I am a recovering anorexic. I was anorexic for almost 2 years. I never got to an extremely low weight but I was at a weight too low for my size and age and I restricted calories heavily always staying at or a little above 1200 and exercising rigorously. I lost a matter of 45 lbs in a matter of 4-5 months and my hair became very thin, brittle and definitely duller. Now that I am in recovery for 6 months my hair has made quite a comeback and though it is thicker and much he’s thirds and shinier, it’s no where near as thick as it used to be and there is still some thinning on top. Lots of baby fine hairs though,..
My questions is…will my hair ever return to the way it was. I miss my beautiful thick hair. I eat right, lots of heathy whole grains lean proteins, eggs and pulses but I feel like it’s not helping. I even take a multi with biotin. I don’t use sulfate shampoos and conditioners and I use a wide tooth comb when detangking. I even do hot oil/deep conditioner treatments weekly….
Any help?

I’d say you need to give it time but i think it will help if you eat foods that are really good for your hair like spinich, i started eating that, i don’t know what everyone what talking about that it’s horrible, there’s no taste off it at all, anyway and nuts, strawberries, rasberries, blackberries, blueberries (if you like them) Look up on line for foods that are good for your hair, you’ll get loads. And try and be patient. Glad to hear you’ve recovered
Like you, I too suffered from anorexia for two years and my had became dull, brittle and fell out in clumps! Your hair takes a lot longer to recover than other parts of your body, but if you carry on eating healthily and maintain a normal weight your hair will get back to it’s original state:)
